55 years of Music, Arts and Community Events

Begun by Wath Morris, Wath Festival has gone from strength to strength. From headline acts and household names to encouraging local and unknown artists it is a three day celebration of music and arts.  

​2027 sees the 55th anniversary of this well loved community festival.  As usual there will be a full programme of events from the Friday night opening concert to a family Ceilidh on Sunday afternoon finishing with a closing performance by Eddi Reader on Sunday night.

Saturday will see the usual town centre celebrations with lots of free family activities such as a treasure hunt and children's workshops.  There will be market stalls, food and drink and fun and frolics. Dancing from local schools and Morris teams, all culminating in the traditional reading of the will of Thomas Tuke, and the throwing of bread rolls from the church spire. 

Throw in the usual fantastic music and arts performances and impromptu sing arounds in local hostelries Wath Festival 2026 promises to pave the way for this amazing community event. 

19th May - 23rd May 2027

Alongside Barnsley Folk Festival’s headline concerts, there will be performances by Shoon, The Hooliemen, Parson’s Lot, Serious Sam Barrett, Glass Ships and The Rhythm Chaps, plus lots more live music to be confirmed.

Also expect the return of our free family folk day in Mandela Gardens, featuring plenty of live music, folk sessions and singarounds, storytelling, theatre, traditional dance performances and workshops, craft activities, plenty of food and drink; as well as our free ceilidh on Sunday. We will announce more musical artists, dance teams and workshop facilitators in early 2027.

Tickets for our festival headline concerts and our Sunday evening showcase, go on general release on Monday 27th July at 10am. Booking will also be open for our free family day and our free ceilidh.

Beardy Folk Festival is a beautifully crafted midsummer music festival. Set in the private estate at Hopton Court amidst stunning South Shropshire countryside, there's two music stages hidden inside a secret walled garden. There's family entertainment, street food, real ale and cider bars, cocktails, a trade village, workshops, crafts, wellbeing activities, a woodland spa and up to four nights camping or glamping.
