Webmaster & Everything Else ~ sammi@folkroundabout.com Advertising ~ keith@folkroundabout.com
I am a singer/songwriter with a background in Document Control, and Cabaret, singing at Holiday Parks, Working Men’s Clubs, Care Homes, Pubs & Childrens Entertainment.
I started playing the guitar at the age of 14, and started songwriting at the age of 15.
I moved to County Durham in December 2020, and in October 2022, I discovered that the North East is the very musical place to be.
After literally failing through the door at the South Shields Club, I have not looked back.
I believe in keeping out Folk Heritage alive, whether it be Traditional or Contemporary.
Folk Clubs are safe havens of support & encouragement.
Music is food for the soul.
I have made some wonderful friends in the short time I have been here, and look forward to meeting more people and visiting lots of Clubs.
It has recently occurred to me, the amount of people wary of going to clubs, because they think that the are not good enough.
It is a such a shame to hear that, as we all make boo boo’s. My fingers sometimes won’t work, so more than once, I have shouted something like “B7” instead of playing it. and carried on. It doesn’t matter.
Some people forget the words. It doesn’t matter.
Some people can’t get the right key, and some songs are re-started two or three times. It doesn’t matter.
Some people use a crib sheet (I do) as I simply cannot remember chords. It doesn’t matter
There are different standards of singer/playing. It doesn’t matter.
You will only get support and encouragement. In my case, I have leant a lot too to help me gain confidence with my guitar playing.
Mistakes? They don’t matter.
The only thing that matters is YOU.
You are in a safe place, and please come along and see for yourself.
What matters is you x
A lovely place to goto, I go as many Wednesdays as I can. Superb people, and I do most of the filming for T-N Studios there.
