WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT OF FANTASTIC SONGS AND A VERY ENTERTAINING BAND!

Not knowing many Bruce Springsteen songs, off I went to film this amazing band.

To see Graeme without his pinny on, making coffee with the machine that is never in the correct key,  was going to be a treat.  Graeme owns the Hidden Gem of a venue:  The White Room Music Cafe, 15 Station Road, Stanley, DH9 0JH

Not many gigs have ice cream in the interval these days. This one does. The theatre is not licensed so best to take your own tipple.

I was given a rather interesting history lesson about the theatre before I settled down for the show.

As Bruce is now about 75 years old, we were not in for a night of screaming girls, but the audience were mainly female, and all singing along to every song. Bar me, as I didn’t know the songs and had be very still, filming.

Graeme as the devilishly handsome lead singer, showed amazing showmanship and can really work the crowd. His cheeky smile lit up the theatre as you could see the joy in all the faces watching him.

Not knowing many ‘Bruce’ songs did not stop me enjoying them, and being amazed at the amount of songs that I had, until tonight, missed out on.

Graeme’s superb, gravelly voice was perfect for ‘Bruce’, and his energy was electric, and the band chemistry was very evident. The band gave their all and were superb.

Mike's keyboard and accordian skills really were terrific, and filled the air with their lovely melodies.   JP's bass playing was spot on, and his voice blended in very well, the sign of a good, tight band. Louise easily swapped between singing, playing the flute and then the saxaphone. The four of them blended seamlessly and musically 'bounced' off each other.

The first set consisted of quieter numbers, mainly from the 'Seeger Sessions',  The second set erupted in very lively songs, with Graeme bouncing around to the music with a big grin on his face.  "Spirit in the Night" had an amazing swing to it, and is now on my car playlist. "Fire" - sublime.

Not one bad song in the set, I can't believe that I didn't know some of these amazing songs!

In all, I cannot recommended this band enough, a superb tribute to Bruce Springsteen, and also an amazing party atmosphere.

Involving the audience in songs made it even better, as it showed Graeme’s amazing people skills.

I am now a fan of more of Bruce’s songs, thanks to the NE Street Band to opening my mind to more amazing music that I had not heard until tonight.  Here is NE Streetband's Facebook Page for more information and gig dates.

If you have not yet seen them, you really should.
